I really like NL 6130 Peplum top. I have made it in every variation. I really have only one issue with the top, and thats the high neckline. It almost makes me feel like I am chocking. I have noticed that a lot of my blogger lady friends have modified the neckline to their comfort level. I am still in the process of making this one in a Linen Blend. I still need to input facing and sleeves.
Does any one have any advise on how at this point, I should modify it? Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe you've ready my last post where I spoke about wanting/needing to alter the neckline of Vogue 8815 peplum but I was scared to make the move. I went ahead and did it with encouragement and advise from Rachelle (Smoking Needles). I used a french curve to mark a cutting line to lower the neckline - placing the larger part of the french curve at the center front and the thinnest or smallest part up at the shoulder. I removed about 3/4" from the center neckline and tapered to removing nothing at the shoulder (if this makes sense).
ReplyDeleteThe Vouge neckline suggests finishing with bias binding whereas the New Look pattern has a facing. I guess the same modification would need to be made on the facing piece.
Faye, I did read your post, and that is why I asked for help as well. This is my third NL6130 Peplum, I love them all, but the necklines are way to high for my liking. I did read your post, but I chickened out and didn't do it. I have already cut out another NL6130 and I intend on trying your method of modification. I will let you know. My fingers are crossed, I've never modified to this extent.
