What I Wore Today! Vogue 8825

Happy Thursday!  I finally got around to wearing my lovely dress I made some time ago.  I absolutely love it, and I can't wait to make another in a solid color.  I kept my accessories simple and wore my Nine West strappy sandals so I could show off a little pink toe action.

More Summer for Me!: Linen Pants - Simplicity 1377 Again

I am fiercely on a mission to make my summer wardrobe fab.  Though I have not actually made much to enhance my wardrobe I have made some really fab garments for my clients, and seeing them satisfied and happy helps my sewing journey.

I made these pants last night and have the matching top which is my go to summer top the infamous McCalls 6359.  I love the simplicity but the ability to upgrade it to something fancier option the top gives.  I live in Florida so our summers are basically year round except for the occasional cold spurt here or there.

I will do the full reveal, when I finish the matching top this evening, so stay tuned!

Styling and Profiling - Floral Short Set

I present to you my lovely client Tameka, wearing/rocking the "Floral Short Set".  She paired it with a white blazer, white pointed toe pumps and white clutch.  I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Floral Short Set, Rayon Challis

I made this lovely short set I thought for my upcoming trip to Punta Cana in December to celebrate our 10th year of marriage/anniversary.  I wanted cute little outfits I could wear poolside and in our room.  When I first purchased this fabric, I wasn't in love with it and it sat in my stash for almost a year.

One day I typed in resort wear in Google to have example of what I wanted to wear, and all these beautiful floral garments popped on the screen.  I knew immediately after that what I wanted to make with this fabric. Needles to say I posted the picture on Facebook, which I do with all my garments, and got several messages asking was I willing to sell it, yep I did just that.  It's gone, and for more money than I could have imagined.  I guess I will be making myself another.  Though I am sure I will not find this fabric, I am sure I can find something close to it.

I used Simplicity 1377 for the shorts, and my beloved McCalls 6359 for the top.  I am pleased how it turned out and glad that someone else will enjoy it as well.

Simplicity 1355 - Tie Tank Tee Jumper (Is what I call it).

I have fallen in love with this pattern.  It is so darn versatile.  I have made a version of this pattern three times already, and I think I got a couple of more versions to go before I am done.  This is the first I've made for myself, and I am so pleased with the fit.

The fabric I have had for quite some time.  Not really sure what to do with it.  I almost cut it earlier in the year to make a Maxi Dress, but changed my mind. Glad I did.  I absolutely love how this came out.  I added 2 inches to the bodice length to account for my bust and to give it more of a blousing effect.

Last Week's Sewing Round Up

Here is a compilation of what I have worked on in between client projects and my home life maintenance:

Simplicity 1358 is a cute little Rayon Jersey Knit Hi-lo Tank Dress that I made for myself.  I do not wear many dresses and I am trying to incorporate dresses into my wardrobe as a stable.  I saw this pattern and thought about the fabric in my stash, I thought what a lovely, springy dress this could be:

Simplicity 1355 made for my client.  She is loves orange just as much as I do.  This fabric was in my stash as well.  I think I got it from Joann's and immediately when she saw it, she begged for it.  I don't often offer up my stash fabric, as it is my special little something I do for myself, but I did agree to share with her since I had more than enough yardage to use for myself.  Won't happen often:

McCalls 6848,  Low Bank Tank Dress/Romber.  I was introduced to this pattern by Mimistyle.  She did an excellent free tutorial using this pattern with instructions of modify it from a short romper to a dress for her collaboration DIY with Michael Levine.  This too was client make, and she was very happy with it.  Though I cringe at the thought of matching up patterns, I especially hate matching up chevrons, and I shared my dislike with her.  She was fine with it:

Simplicity 1368, the Circle Skirt with an Elastic Waistband.  This is the last of the client sewing this past week.  This is cotton fabric and as simple as can be.  I made the the top out of the fabric scraps.  She was so pleased:

Summer Time Essential Accessories

The floppy hat, the spring bag, and the summer shoe are all summer time essentials accessories on my list. Though I am no fashion blogger, I do peruse fashion blogs for great ideas and trends.  I have several blogs that I pay particular attention to.

One is my good friend Natasha over at Fashionably Fabulous.  She is always up on the latest fashion and beauty trends as well as being a great seamstress.  She is also a thrift Diva!  I love all things thrifty.  So check her out when you have a moment or two.

There are others that I follow as well and I will feature a few of them soon.  But until then, here are some summer essentials this 2014 season that I have been keeping my eye out for.  Especially the yellow floppy hat:
