Kwik Sew 2927: Slit Front and Sides Tunic

I had higher hopes for this pattern when I first saw it.  But once I put it on, I wasn't very thrilled.  I don't think this pattern is for someone with a large bust, at least for my large bust. I am hopeful I may be able to pull it off, but I am not necessarily excited about it.

Slit Front and Sides Tunic! Details on the blog, blog address in profile #Itsmelaniedarling #seamstress #sewing #sewist #sewcialist #sewingblogger #asewinglife #imakemyownclothes #imadethis #diy #diyer #diystyle #diyfashion #dressmaker #customsewing #fash

It was really easy to put together, and I think it only took me about two hours from start to finish.  I love the fabric though, but maybe I could have put it to use on another pattern, I don't know.  Just not really feeling this tunic.

  1. From the picture on the pattern envelope, it looks like it's supposed to be a slimmer fit. I think it's a great duster/jacket style -- love the shaping--it just needs more ease so it can hang and flow better. Love the houndstooth.

    1. I agree Robin, if I decide to make it again, I will give it a little more ease.

  5. I know how you feel, but I actually like it on you. Maybe you'll find the perfect thing to style it with and change your mind. :-)

  6. I really like it. However, if the closure at the top is making you feel some way about the garment what about placing a hook & eye lower.

  9. Melanie, I actually love this jacket. The length is great and the print is awesome. Before reading your post, I was thinking it is wonderful. I have a large bust and would wear it. The drape of your fabric is great for this. On another note, I've seen this style in a stable knit/fabric and didn't like the way it look on the pattern and knew it would make one look larger all the way done with fabrics that fall away from the body. Therefore, this is perfect on you!
