Thank You All! A Happy Jacket - New Look 6231

First I would like to thank all of my Blogging Buddies for the well wishes, prayers and kind thoughts.  I am well past my kidney stone saga.  I hope and pray that experience fade from my memory very, very soon.   It has been sometime since I suffered through a kidney stone incident, so I thought it was well behind me.  My doctors have assured me that if I do the things they have suggested I should be able to live kidney stone free, or for a long while anyway.

I needed to brighten up my life, and so I decided I needed a happy jacket, something light and bright to wear with almost anything.  When I came across this pattern, I knew immediately that I wanted to make my happy jacket using this pattern.  I live in Florida so not much need for anything much heavier on most days.  We may dip into the 40’s every now and then, but that is far and few between.

I really like how it came out.  I love the color, and of course I used my drug of choice, Ponte Roma Knit.  Yummy to my tummy, this fabric is awesome.   I didn’t line it, but chose to just serge and finish of the seams.  I am quite pleased with the finish product.  I hope you like it, and happy sewing.

First Completed Project - Sew Your Own Wardrobe Challenge

I'm loving the color, I'm loving the fit, and I am loving the fabric, my beloved Ponte Knit.  Its not the Ponte Roma Knit I usually purchase, its a Ponte Knit non the less.  It really hugs the body.

Without further ado, here she is, NL6150 in all her splendor:

I'm thinking a pair of navy blue pants (on the cutting block as I type), and some bone open two wedges (which I own), will make a grand ensemble.

I'm on CRACK! My Love for Ponte Knit!

This stuff is like crack to me.  I have to have it, all of it, all the time. I have a nice stash, but I want more. I want Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, etc., you get the picture.  Its so durable and easy to use.    No matter what my pattern describes as the appropriate fabric, I see it in Ponte Knit.

Though in my mind I know it is not appropriate for every garment, actually it may not be appropriate on most projects I do, but I love it.  I can't get enough of it.  So with my Christmas funds, I dived in.  Yes, Joann's had an online sale, along with my coupon, I saved a bundle.

I promise I will not covet this fabric but make meaningful use of it. I will not stash it away and stare at it daily, like I do the many yards of it I have at home now.  I'm thinking some really cute red Ponte Roma Knit wide legged pants would be cute.  Or maybe a nice Royal Blue dress with side pleats and a side split, hmmmmmmm yum.   Or even a cute chocolate brown cape, and black peplum.  Oh how my minds travels when it comes to Ponte.

I think I will now call my son Ponte, because I love this stuff, just as much as I love him. What do you think?

 Happy Creating!
