Learning the Technique of Draping

Learn to Drape the Human Form

I love draped look in clothing.  I think that draping is so forgiving and hide a lot of little imperfections depending on your body type.   I've been playing around with different fabrics and patterns to perfect the draped top that I want to wear.  Something like this:

I Like and I'll Make it Myself

I am really feeling this top. The possibilities are endless what you can pair this with.  A cute long black Maxi skirt, pair of wide leg jeans with some sexy open toe sandles, etc.  The list goes on and on.

Working on My Blog, and New Beggining

I've been working on my blog. I 've changed my Title to "It's Melanie Darling", which is just a play on words.

A little background on the darlingB.  My father called my Mother darling.  Everything was darling this and darling that.  The "B" came from my Mom who always responded to Dad, "ok darling B".  She never explained when asked what the B was.

darlingB will still be my product line when selling my bags and other items, but my blog is about more than just my products. Its about my life's journey to an extent.

I think it's classy and simple, but I may tweak it a little more overtime.  Anywho, I hope you will continue to follow me and my journey.  Out for now.

WALMART! My Hate/Love Relationship!

I will screech past Walmart doing 55 on a 45 mph highway.  I do frequent Walmart because as much as I despise them, I love them too.

Some prices just can't be beat, and others are not even worth fighting the crowded isles, long lines, parking, and disrespectful checkout personnel in my area.  There are at least 20 checkout lines in my local Walmart, but there is never more than 5 lanes open at a time.  Go figure!  I would rather pay the extra .25 cents at Publix than deal with the hassle on most days.  Really its really not that much different when I did the research.

But, Walmart sewing department and my cheap prescription, gets me in the doors.   Once in, I am caught up with the other stuff I can't possibly not pick up since I am already there.

I did have an opportunity to skip into Walmart this past Sunday and lookie what I came home with, yumminess:

Yes, I am so excited.  Nothing extravagant, just some simpe sewing that I am looking forward too.

NICE! FAIL!

I will eventually do a Pattern Review but for right now.  I want to show you my muslin (made with bedsheets) of the New Look 6130:

I really love the detail, and I can't wait to make an actual one, but my muslin came out a little wonky, as it relates to the sleeves, do you see my fail:

Yep, one sleeve is a little higher than the other.  Its called the wonky sleeve, LOL.  I love it though, and I may even wear it.
